THE FEED

Early Winter is a live record. One show, one night, two microphones. Every mistake is real.

Spent the evening transferring old four-track tapes. Some of these are from the 90s. Some of these I forgot I made.

A small thing: Early Winter is now on cassette. Fifty copies, hand-dubbed, each one slightly different.

Update from the shed: the new songs are written, the old tape machine is working and the neighbors have been patient. I'm tracking everything live, with no click and no fixing, because the last record sounded too tidy. If you hear a chair creak on the finished album, that was take six.

I'm convinced the best songs are written when you're supposed to be doing something else.

New in the shop: lyric prints on thick paper. Pick a song, I'll hand-letter it.

The week Daylight came out, a stranger wrote to say it got them through a hard month. Thank you for telling me.

The new record has a working title. It's terrible. I'm keeping it.
