TERMS OF SERVICE // FRONT MATTER

What using SNR actually commits you to, as a listener or as an artist. Plain mechanics, not filler.

01

Accounts

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 01 OF 09

An account is one email, one login, held by Supabase on our behalf — we describe exactly what that means in our privacy policy. You're responsible for your own credentials; if you think someone else has them, tell us and we'll help you lock the account down.

One account per person. We can suspend or close an account for fraud, abuse of the plays pipeline, or repeated copyright infringement — see clause 05 below for the specific rule on that last one.

02

Uploads and splits

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 02 OF 09

Uploading a track is a claim: that you own it, or that you hold clearance from everyone who does, to put it on SNR and be paid for plays of it. We don't verify that claim before a track publishes — we act on it when someone disputes it, which is what clause 05 covers.

A track cannot publish without an accepted split. A split names everyone with a stake in it — the primary artist, a producer, a feature, whoever else — and the shares they agreed to, and every party on it has to accept before the track goes live. Once accepted, the split is the record we pay against for as long as the track earns anything. Proposing a split you don't have the standing to propose, or naming shares nobody actually agreed to, is the same claim as clause 05: something we act on when it's disputed, not something we police upfront.

03

The pool

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 03 OF 09

A subscription is not a ticket to a flat per-stream rate. It's $7 (or more — there is no hardship tier at this time) that we seal into a pool belonging to you and nobody else, and split at the end of the month between the artists you actually played, in proportion to how much you played them. We take between $2 and $5. The full mechanism, with the actual arithmetic, is at how it works.

You get an itemised receipt every month naming every artist you funded and what they were paid. That receipt is the product, and this clause is just the part of it that's a promise rather than a screen.

This plan renews automatically on the monthly or yearly interval you choose. You authorise us to charge your payment method at the interval and price shown before checkout until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account billing page — access continues through the end of the paid period, and no further charges occur. Cancellation is as easy as signup.

04

Purchases are licenses

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 04 OF 09

Buying an album is not a rental and it is not tied to your subscription. It's a perpetual license — unlimited streaming, a lossless FLAC download, and access from any Subsonic client pointed at your account — for as long as your account exists.

It can be revoked exactly two ways: we approve a refund request you filed from your Library, or your card issuer forces a chargeback. Nothing else takes a purchase back. A revoked purchase still shows in your Library — we don't pretend it never happened — but it stops granting streaming and the FLAC re-download until you buy it again. See our refund policy for the mechanics of requesting one.

05

Takedowns

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 05 OF 09

Anyone can file a takedown notice against a track through our DMCA page — no account required. While a notice is under review, the work comes down for every listener except the uploading artist; a buyer who already owns it keeps the access their purchase granted, because a takedown is not one of the two things clause 04 lists as capable of revoking a license.

An account that accumulates repeated, upheld takedown notices gets terminated. This isn't a three-strikes number we're publishing yet — it's a judgment call while the queue is new — but it is a real rule, and it is the backstop behind clause 02's honor system on uploads.

06

Changes

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 06 OF 09

We'll update this page as the product changes underneath it, and we'll say so here when we do. Nothing above is final — see the line below.

07

Physical goods

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 07 OF 09

The sale is between buyer and artist. SNR is the venue. Physical goods on SNR — vinyl, cassettes, CDs, apparel, art objects — are sold by the artist who listed them. The artist is the seller, the shipper, and the merchant of record. SNR provides the storefront, the payment rail through Stripe, and the digital unlock trigger. SNR never touches, packs, ships, or fulfils any physical item.

Payment for a physical item is a direct charge on the artist's own Stripe account. SNR collects an application fee for providing the platform and the payment rail; the artist receives the balance directly.

Disputes, shipping delays, lost items, and condition complaints are between you and the artist. Contact the artist directly for resolution. SNR does not adjudicate physical-goods disputes but may suspend listings for artists who fail to resolve them.

Buying a physical item that is linked to a digital release grants a permanent digital license to that release — unlimited streaming, lossless FLAC download — granted immediately at purchase, not at ship. If the transaction is refunded in full or charged back, the digital license and streaming access are revoked; the refund policy describes which situations retain the license and which revoke it.

08

Backing

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 08 OF 09

Backing is a recurring monthly contribution to a specific artist, paid through a Stripe subscription on the artist's connected account. It is separate from your listener subscription — backing money routes directly to the artist outside the UCPM pool, on top of everything else your subscription already funds.

This is a monthly plan that renews automatically. You authorise us to charge your payment method each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time — your backing continues through the end of the current paid period, then stops. No further charges occur. Cancellation is as easy as signup.

SNR's platform fee is 1% of the stated backing amount. The card processing fee is paid by the backer so that the artist receives the full stated amount. The total you are charged at checkout itemises the tier amount, the platform fee, and the card fee.

Backing tiers may offer perks — a numbered backer badge, early access to notes, name in credits, backer-list placement, early access to a published release, or physical merch. Backing does not make music permanently exclusive. An artist may offer eligible members early access for up to 7 calendar days before that release opens to all listeners. Backing does not grant ownership or a listening subscription.

Your backer number is a permanent public badge assigned on your first successful payment. You may opt out of public recognition at any time.

09

Memberships

TERMS OF SERVICE // CLAUSE 09 OF 09

A membership (also called patronage) is the same recurring monthly contribution as backing, described in clause 08 above, but viewed from the fan's side — the active membership unlocks artist-offered benefits on top of the satisfaction of supporting the artist directly. Like backing, it auto-renews monthly; you can cancel at any time, and access continues through the end of the current paid period.

Members may receive:

  • Early-access streaming — when an artist marks a release for early access, active members can stream it before the public release date. Every such release opens to all listeners within 7 calendar days. Permanent members-only exclusivity is not constructible on SNR.
  • Member pricing — artists may set a discount on digital and physical purchases for their active members.
  • Members-only posts — artists can publish posts visible only to active members.
  • Members-only products — some physical items or merch may be available only to active members.
