Cold Frame is a live record. One show, one night, two microphones. Every mistake is real.

One-off show at The Clocktower on Dec 27. No support, one long set, no encore because there are no other songs.

Been listening to a lot of old gospel records lately. There's something about a room full of voices that gets me every time.

Trying a new way of working. Each morning I record one song from scratch, start to finish, before checking my phone. Most of them are bad, a few are fine, and one of them, Four Leaf, I can't stop playing. It turns out the trick is to finish before you have time to doubt it.

Notes from the control room, week two. The drum sound is finally right, after the kit moved into the hallway and blankets went up over the coat rack. The vocal is not right, and neither is the bridge on Four Leaf, but the coffee machine is working and that counts for something. Mixing starts as soon as the snow clears.

Moved apartments last week. The new place has a bath, a piano and the worst wallpaper I've ever seen. Keeping all three.
